The total duration of the test is 2 hours 55 minutes. Individual section scores are given in the range of 1 to 36. The total score is the average of the 4 sections which also falls in the range of 1 to 36. Since the essay writing is optional, the score is also given separately. Some colleges require the essay score for their admission process.
SAT is more than 4 hours including the breaks. The composite score for the SAT ranges from 400 to 1600 which is the sum of Evidence based Reading, Writing and Math section scores. Essay score is not part of the composite score.
The 50th percentile represents the average, or mean, GRE score. The mean for the quantitative section is 151.91 (or 152); for verbal, it's 150.75 (151); and for analytical writing, it's 3.61.
